McCranie's is very fortunate to have close relationships with some of the world's finest pipemakers. The culmination of these friendships is the McCranie Pipe. It is crafted by Tonino Jacono of Italy and Bill Taylor of the famed Ashton Pipe in England.
Tonino creates the shapes of the McCranie line completely by hand and hand-rusticates the Calabrian briars and handcuts the bits. Tonino then sends them on to Bill where they receive a sandblasting on top of the carved finish to create a very tight relief that is lightweight. From there, Bill finishes the pipe and stamps them with the McCranie name.
This final step in the journey of the McCranie pipe reveals to the pipe smoker the same thing it has always meant - QUALITY. We take great pride that we have joined two master craftsmen together to create a pipe that is the symbol of the great friendship and relationship we have with these two gentlemen.
